Light House Threader Earrings - Tŵr Mawr lighthouse 3

These Lighthouse earrings are carved from a wonderfully vibrant chunk of Scottish Surfite. They make the perfect coastal summer earrings. Tie your hair up in a loose pony tail to create a real statement with these elegant long-line summer threaders.

By hand carving through the Surfite at an angle I have been able to capture the beauty of the different layers and colours found in the block. The soft tapered silhouette makes these earrings both tactile and lightweight, despite their size.

It is not often that I find a big enough piece of striped Surfite to be able to carve this shape. By carving through the layers at an angle you get a wonderful layered sweep of colour across the piece. There are too many colours to name but ones that first catch your eye are orange, white, blue, red and pink.

The Surfite has been carved into a silhouette of a lighthouse and then polished to a smooth high shine. The fixed threader ear wires have been forged from recycled Sterling Silver.

Details:

Total drop length of earring is 5.8cm. The base of each lighthouse is approx. 0.9 cm in diameter and the overall weight of the earrings are 3.5g each.

Care:

Try not to pull the ear wire apart but angle the earing so you can simply thread through the hole on your lobe. This will have to stop the wire distorting out of shape in time.

When the earrings need a clean use hot soapy water and a soft bristle brush (e.g., Toothbrush). A soft polishing cloth can also be used. As with all Silver jewellery keep them away from perfume, sunscreen and other solvents. Where possible keep the earrings in the box to help reduce tarnishing and scratching of the resin when not being worn.
